A surgical instrument is disclosed for applying at least one circular array of fasteners. The surgical instrument comprises a housing having proximal and distal end portions and an elongated shaft extending from the housing distal end portion. The shaft has proximal and distal end portions. A fastener carrying cartridge is positioned at the shaft distal end portion. The fastener carrying cartridge includes a housing and a plurality of surgical fasteners disposed within the housing. A pusher member is operatively associated with the surgical fasteners. A knife member is disposed within the housing and a fastener crimping limit member is disposed within the housing. An anvil member is operatively disposed adjacent the fastener carrying cartridge.
