2066700 9106501 PCTABS00005 A single endless series of steps (3) for up (4) and down (5) flights has inboard end spacing control links (32), each operated by a gear arrangement (43, 68) at transitions between curved and straight paths of step (3) travel. Steps (3) are molded plastic cores with top mounted tread caps (17), both the cores and caps (17) being of colors as desired, and with light transmission characteristics from opaque to transparent, as desired. Interengaging edges on treads (17) and risers (18, 19) are of curved shape facilitating the transition from straight to curved runs of the steps (3).
