In a tool for guiding a circular saw it is known for the outside edge of the base of a circular saw to slide along a straight piece of material (usually aluminum) which is clamped into place. In this invention the saw actually rides on the guide and that guide is kept in place by a rubberized coating on the bottom side. Specification: 1- This invention relates to guiding a circular saw for cutting various materials (concrete, metal, plastic etc.)but mostly lumber and lumber related products (2x4's, 2x6's etc., plywood, ranger board, particle board etc.). 2- In devices for guiding circular saws it is common for the outside edge of the base of the circular saw to slide along a straight edge. Guides of this type, however, are inefficient because you have to spend time making two measurements; the actual line where the sawblade makes the cut and the line where the straight edge of the guide is lined up on (basically the difference between the saw blade and the outside edge of the base of the circular saw) and you have to clamp it to the object you want to cut, which is not always possible. One other drawback is the difficulty in cutting uneven surfaces because the base of the circular saw rides on the material you are actually cutting. 3- I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome by rubberizing the underside of the guide (similar to a router blanket). This keeps it in place so no clamping is necessary, which in turn, saves you time; it also gives you more possibilities in confined spaces or where clamping is not possible but you still need accurate cuts. With this guide you only have to make one measurement because the part of the base up to the sawblade of the circular saw actually rides on the guide, you only have to line it up visually to whatever cutting mark you make. Because the saw rides on the guide, uneven or rough surfaces aren't as big of a problem. This guide is a fast and efficient way for the experienced or inexperienced woodworker to make straight, accurate, and professional cuts.
