Abstract A circular saw head (1) that serves to saw side boards (3) from a log (2) has a circular saw blade (4) that is installed on a saw shaft (10) by means of a supporting flange (5). Within a ring of saw teeth (13) of the saw blade (4) and at a radial distance from the saw teeth (13) there is a face-end circular supporting surface (12) that projects axially beyond the face surface (8) of the circular saw blade (4) and lies in the plane of the face-side outer edges (14) of the saw teeth (13). The supporting surface (12) supports the surfaces on the log that have been sawn by the saw teeth (13) and thus guides the log. (Figure 1)
