The invention provides a method of producing a clad sheet article having superplastic properties, and the resulting clad sheet article. The method involves producing a cladding layer onto at least one rolling face of a core ingot made of a metal having superplastic properties, preferably by co-casting, to form a clad ingot and then rolling said clad ingot to produce a sheet article. The core ingot includes an element that diffuses from an interior of the ingot to a surface at superplastic forming temperatures thereby deteriorating surface properties of the ingot. The cladding layer is provided with an element (dopant) that reacts with the element of the core to reduce the ability of the element to diffuse through the cladding layer.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un article laminé revêtu ayant des propriétés superplastiques et l'article laminé revêtu résultant. Le procédé implique la production d'une couche de revêtement sur au moins une face roulante d'un lingot de noyau fait d'un métal ayant des propriétés superplastiques, de préférence par co-moulage, pour former un lingot revêtu puis rouler ledit lingot revêtu pour produire un article laminé. Le lingot de noyau comprend un élément qui se diffuse depuis l'intérieur du lingot vers la surface à des températures de formation superplastiques, détériorant de ce fait les propriétés de surface du lingot. La couche de revêtement est pourvue d'un élément (dopant) qui réagit avec l'élément du noyau pour réduire la capacité de l'élément à se diffuser à travers la couche de revêtement.
