ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A clamp for use in releasably gripping and lifting a railroad track rail, comprises a housing arranged to transversely straddle a portion of the head of a rail, a pair of linearly extendable and retractable puller pins mounted on opposite ends of the housing for engaging opposite sides of a rail and for movement along converging paths, and means for selectively extending and retracting the puller pins so as to place the pins into and out of engagement with the web and underside of the rail head of the rail.
