In order to improve a clamp-type clothes hanger so as to ensure permanently secure and reliable clamping of articles of clothing, as so as to provide great clamping force in a simple assembly and with a small amount of operating force, it is proposed that the hinging of the clamp arms be effected through at least two hinge elements that can pivot about an axis that is essentially parallel to the clamping area, one such hinge element being arranged on each of the clamp arms so that they latch together in a direction that intersects the axis; and such that a flexible element is arranged between the clamp arms so as to generate the spring pressure; this flexible element forces the clamp arms apart above the axis and at the same time loads the hinge elements in the direction in which they latch together.
