The invention relates to a clamping and tensioning device for printing machines, by means of which printing plates are clamped and tensioned. In order to achieve a defined clamping and tensioning force, as well as a design of such a device which is suitable for automation, a tensioning bar (1) and a clamping bar (2) are arranged in such a manner that its clamping surfaces (3, 4) for gripping the bent end of a printing plate (5) are positioned opposite each other in radial direction. The tensioning bar (1) is designed as a swingable double lever, whereby the tensioning bar (1) is swingable against the force of tension springs (7) by means of at least one adjustment element (6). The clamping bar (2), too, is designed as a swingable double lever being connected with the tensioning bar (1), whereby the clamping surface (4) of the clamping bar (2) can be pressed against the corresponding clamping surface (3) of the tensioning bar (1) with a clamping force suitable for holding the printing plate (5). The clamping bar (2) has a holding element (9) which cooperates with a fixed stop (10) in such a way that the clamping bar (2), through the actuation of the adjustment elements (6), is swung against the force of the clamping springs (8).
