CLAMPING DEVICE FOR CLAMPING PLATE-LIKE MEMBERS Abstract of the Disclosure The disclosure relates to a clamping device capable of readily combining or disassembling plate-like members made of cardboard or similar material, such as corrugated boards, etc. for packing cases and the like. The clamping device is made of plastics material, for example, poly- propylene or the like, and includes a flat base portion, a pair of pivotal members hinged by means of thin sections of the material to the base portion, and inwardly curved piercing members extending outwardly from the respective pivotal members. The piercing members may be forced into the plate-like members to grip them in an efficient manner. The pivotal members are hinged on the base portion in such a manner that they can be moved by hand from a released position extending from the base portion to a clamping position generally parallel to the base portion and vice-versa, and they are sufficiently rigid and sharp at their tips that they can be forced into the plate-like members. The pivotal members have portions grippable by hand so that they can easily be returned to the released position from the clamping position when desired. Thus, the clamping device can be used quickly and effectively for sealing a packing carton or the like and can be released quickly and easily, and reused if desired.
