ABSTRACT The invention relates to a clamping device for tubular winding cores, in particular for winding cores carrying webs of paper or similar material. It consists of a plurality of pipe clamping segments radially adjustable in a cage and disposed around a pin. Support elements, which are guided in peripheral grooves on the pin surface, are provided between the pin and the clamping segments. The pin has an equilateral-polygonal core cross-section in the area of the grooves. The support elements have a spherical shape on the side facing the clamping segments and are inserted in corresponding semispherical recesses in the inner surfaces of the clamping segments. On the side facing the pin they have a contact surface adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the base of the groove.
