ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for clamping tubular winding cores for paper-strip or the like materials, has clamping-segments constituting a cylindrical casing which are adjusted radially with the aid of a core-sleeve of equilateral polygonal cross-section. Each clamping-segment has a support-element with a rounded profile providing linear contact with and bearing upon one surface of the core-sleeve. The support-elements are guided, with little or very slight play, in a floating cage inserted coaxially between the clamping-seg- ments and the core-sleeve. The support-elements may be sliding or anti- friction elements in the form of balls or rollers, or may be sliding ele- ments integral with, or rigidly secured to, the clamping-elements.
