TITLE: CLAMPING DEVICES ABSTRACT The invention relates to clamping devices for use in any kind of vice and includes one or more clamp members for contacting an object to be clamped and which are movable into an angular orientation in contact with the object to be clamped, and means jaw members for holding the or each clamp member tightly against the object. In a preferred form, the clamp members have portions which are swivellable by means of fixed complementary portions on jaw members. The device may be used to clamp irregularly shaped objects and the clamp members automatically adjust in angular ori- entation to the optimum orientation in which the object can be tightly held. Furthermore, this invention is to provice a clamping device having multi-functional plane or three-dimensional adjust- ment, wherein a suitable thick column is used as clamp member and on the column surface, there are different size tooth-shaped con- vex and concave are and on the longitudinal column surface, there are different radius convex and concave arcuate and suitable size cutting plane which can be assembled on the positioning jaw or slidable jaw by single-column or parallel double-dolumn positioning axle, or simultaneously assembled on both positioning jaw and sli- dable seat or positioned on a sliding seat, then assembled on the positioning jaw to let sliding seat slide and move horizontally, said clamp member can make three-dimension swinging adjustment and can clamp work piece in optimum orientation; also it can be a clam- - 1 - ping device which can adjust three-dimensional by oblique plane and mainly includes two sets or more clamp sides of slidable jaw and positioning jaw which can be driven by external force to make corresponding movement, and placed a sectional or more clamp mem- ber set by coupling and swivelling oblique plane in order to let clamp side of clamp member set adjust in manifold orientation for clamping work piece, and have bottom seat of clamping vice which can adjust in manifold orientation by oblique plane. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION: This invention relates to clamping devices, such as manual bench- vices, mechanical lathe vices, or lathe chucks or robot hands. In conventional vices, the clamping jaws are fixed and have ridges for gripping. In the case of work pieces having an irregular shape, the clamping jaws can only clamp a work piece at some places. As a result, the clamping is not firm and stable in use. An object of the invention is to overcome this problem. According to this invention, I propose a clamping device including one or more clamp members for contacting an object to be clamped and which are movable into a selected angular orientation in con- tact with an object to be clamped, and means for holding the or each clamp member tightly against an object. The clamping mouth comprises two or more slidable jaws, and sli- dable clamp members. The clamping surface formed by the clamp members may be angularly varied to adapt to the surface of a work piece for the purpose of firmly clamping it. Also, on both sides - 2 -
