A clarified neem oil having a cloud point below 13 ~C exhibits reeduced phytotoxicity. Treatment of crude neem oil with a dilute aqueous basic solution or with an enzyme having lipid-degrading activity yields a clarified neem oil having acceptably low phytotoxicity. The methods are advantageous because they reduce or eliminate the waste stream of waxy byproduct generated using existing methods for clarifying crude neem oil.

L'huile de Melia azadirachta clarifiée selon le procédé décrit a un point de trouble inférieur à 13 ~C et une phytotoxicité réduite. En traitant l'huile brute de Melia azadirachta avec une solution basique aqueuse diluée ou avec une enzyme à activité de dégradation des lipides, on obtient une huile de Melia azadirachta clarifiée d'un bas niveau de phytotoxicité qui est tout à fait acceptable.
