ABSTRACT A cleaning body of non woven textile material in sheet or strip form for car wash installations includes polyamide or polyester fleece fibers having a fiber titer from 3 to 300 dtex. The fibers are consolidated with an elastic polymeric binder. The material has a bulk volume which is 65 to 99% air and has a finished weight of 100 to 2000 g/m2. The cleaning body has relatively low weight, large internal surface area, relatively high elasticity, good dirt absorption and allows easy removal of absorbed dirt by flushing of water through the material.
