ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cleaning cloth formed of micro-fibres of a polymeric material. The micro-fibres have a substantially pore-free fibre core surrounded by an open pore foamed covering for the fibre. In embodiments described, the pores have a diameter in the range of about 0.01 to 0.5µ and can cover from about 1 to 95% of the fibre surface. The foamed covering occupies about 40 to 80% of the total cross-section of the micro-fibre. The micro-fibres may be mixed with or covered by other types of fibres for modifying the properties of the cloth. Such other types of fibres can be curled. A detergent, a bacteriocide and/or a fungicide and/or a preservation agent can be contained in the pores of the foamed covering of the micro-fibres.
