ABSTRACT A cleaning device for basins, which may contain liquid in their base areas, in particular, toilet bowls, consists of a rod-like handle and a sleeve-like cleaner element on which there is a cleaner head. The cleaner element is intended for one-time use only and can be flushed away. The sleeve-like cleaner element is so dimensioned and made that the inserted handle cannot come into contact with any deposited soil and in particular with any contaminated water that is located in the bottom of the bowl.
