Abstract of the Disclosure: A cleaning process uses a complexing agent, especially for a component that in particular is a steam generator. In order to remove metallic lead, the lead is oxidized and a resul- tant lead compound is complexed while lead is still being oxidized, by using a salt of a complexing acid and an alkalizing agent in aqueous solution as a complexing agent. A resultant solution is subsequently removed.
