A B S T R A C T In order to remove plaque and other coatings on teeth, especially down in the gingival pockets, and thereby prevent and cure paradentosis, a cleaning body (1) is applied, said body being mounted on a rotary shaft. The body (1) is at its end provided with curved ribs (3) in the hollow space (8), said ribs (3) having triangular cross sections. The frontmost side face (5) in the direction of rotation (4) of the ribs (3) slopes forward to form a scraping edge which can wipe the tooth face, and which can lead the removed material towards the centre (9) of the body. In order to make room for the removed material, the ribs (3) extend to a point a distance removed from the centre, whereby is produced a zone at the top of the cup (8) where no active stirring takes place. The removed materials can then be rinsed out from this space.
