A clearcoat composition and method reduce the ability of rain to bead on a film of the clearcoat. The clearcoat includes a resin, a cross-linking agent reactive with the resin, and a water-soluble surfactant. Upon exposure of the film to the rain, the surfactant reduces the ability of the rain to bead on the film and certain properties, such as resistance to etch from acid rain, are improved.

L'invention concerne une composition de revêtement transparent et un procédé permettant de réduire l'aptitude de la pluie à former des perles sur un film dudit revêtement transparent. Ledit revêtement transparent comprend une résine, un agent de réticulation réagissant avec la résine et un tensioactif soluble dans l'eau. Lorsque le film est exposé à la pluie, le tensioactif réduit l'aptitude de la pluie à former des perles sur ledit film. Certaines propriétés, comme la résistance à la corrosion sous l'effet de pluies acides, sont améliorées.
