A threaded blind insert (10) includes a shank (13) with a bore therethrough and a head (16) at one end and a threaded region (18) at the opposite end. The shank includes a weakened deformable portion (12) created by a reduced outside diameter of the shank. A reinforcement collar (11) integral with the shank is located in the middle of the deformable portion which provides a rigid area and creates bulges (26) in the deformable portion on either side of the collar. A flange (17) is located adjacent to the underside of the head and centers the insert when it is set in a workpiece mounting hole. The reinforcing collar may be replaced by a band (31) of material of greater hardness on the deformable wall which can be created by heat treatment.
Un insert borgne fileté (10) comprend une tige (13) dans laquelle est creusé un alésage, une tête (16) sur une extrémité et une partie filetée (18) sur l'extrémité opposée. La tige comprend une partie déformable aveugle (12) formée par le diamètre extérieur réduit de la tige. Une bague de renfort (11) solidaire de la tige et placée au milieu de la partie déformable procure une partie rigide et forme des renflements (26) dans la partie déformable de part et d'autre de la bague. Une bride (17) placée à proximité de la face inférieure de la tête permet de centrer l'insert lorsqu'il est montée dans un trou de montage d'une pièce à travailler. La bague de renfort peut être remplacée par une bande (31) de matériau plus dure sur la paroi déformable et qui peut être obtenue par traitement thermique.
