ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flexible pad for supporting a person above an underlying surface. The pad is made of a compressible closed cell foam material which in the preferred embodiment is made with a plurality of elongate, parallel ridges and valleys which form, in a section taken transverse to the lengthwise axis of the ridges and valleys, a corrugated pattern. In other configurations, the upper and lower ridges are vertically aligned with one another. The pad is formed by compressing a blank of closed cell foam material between upper and lower heated molds.
