A closing band based for closing bags, sacks or for bundling lines, contains on one end of an elongated, flexible band, holding head with a fixing device for the band. In the vicinity of the facing end the band has a gripping member. The band is shaped into a loop and in the vicinity of its free end is engaged with the fixing device of the holding head and is then tightened. By pulling the free end perpendicular to the direction of a passage in the holding head reopening thereof is possible
