ABSTRACT In a closure and/or control device for the outlet of a metallurgical vessel a drive rod extends in an internal space in a rotatable, refractory, ceramic closure and/or control element. Its outer end is connected to a drive unit for the closure and/or control element. Its inner end region engages the closure and/or control element in the internal space. In order to render operation of the closure and/or control device possible without cooling, the drive rod comprises a ceramic material at least in its inner end region.
