CLOSURE AND/OR CONTROL ELEMENT ABSTRACT A closure and/or control element for an elongate outlet of a vessel containing a metal melt has a tubular, immovable valve member (6) and a tubular valve member (7) which is rotatable on it. Elongate slits (8,9) in the valve members (6,7) enable casting close to final dimensions. Radial flow through the inner valve member (6,7) is to be avoided. The stability of the valve members is to be improved. The internal space (11) within the inner valve member (6,7) is closed at its one end (12). Opposite to the latter it defines an inlet opening (14) .
