ABSTRACT CLOSURE AND/OR CONTROL ELEMENT FOR A METALLURGICAL VESSEL A closure and/or control element for the tapping of liquid metal melt from a metallurgical vessel has an inner tube (2) secured to the vessel (5) with at least one openings (14). An end edge (15) of a movable outer tube (3) extends around the inner tube (2). The outer tube (3) is movable from a closed position into an open position of the opening (14). In order to avoid plugs of the metal melt being able to form in openings (14) in the outer tube (3), the relative position of the opening (14) in the inner tube (2) and the end edge (15) of the outer tube (3) is so arranged that the end edge (15) passes over the opening (14) when the outer tube (3) is moved. When viewed in the longitudinal axial direction (13), the end edge (15) is on the one side of the opening (14), when in the open position, and on the opposing side of the opening (14), when in the closed position.
