ABSTRACT A closure device for a port of a chamber especially the charging port of a plant for dry cooling coke, has upper and lower lids arranged to be capable of being opened and closed independently of each other, each lid being able to remain closed when the other lid is open. This is achieved by providing sealing means around the opening of the chamber which cooperate with sealing means afforded by operating means arranged to open and close the inner lid. The operating means also carry sealing means which cooperate with sealing means on a removable upper lid and with sealing means on the charging means for example a coke hopper.
