A reclosable pouch includes first and second pouch walls (26, 28) having male and female closure elements (42, 44) disposed on and separate from the first and second pouch walls (26, 28), respectively. The female profile element (42) includes a female profile member (64) and first and second flanges (70) integral with and disposed on either side of the female profile (64). Each of the first and second flanges (70) includes a first portion (72) of substantially uniform thickness and a second portion (74) having a thickness less than the first portion (72) and where the second portion (74) is disposed between and contiguous with the first portion (72) and the female profile member (64).
