ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tube of film material of thermoplastic or thermoplastic like substance for enclosing food such as a sausage skin is described, with a closure tie on one end for suspending the tube when filled with food. The tie is received in a groove in the end of the tube which may be pleated. A method of making such an article is described in which the end of the tube is softened before, during, or after the application of the closure tie. Apparatus for the method using hot air for the softening process is also described.
