Abstract A club for sports use, especially for ice hockey, comprising a shaft (1) and a blade (2) at one end of the shaft. The shaft (1) comprises a tubular member, a so-called torsion box (3) made of artificial material having high mechanical properties and containing embedded reinforcing fibers (4) that are oriented in the longitudinal direction of the shaft (1). The outer torsion box (3) together with at least a substantial portion of the reinforcing fibers (4) extend without interruption into the blade (2) through a curved transition section (5), wherein the cross section of the torsion box (3) is gradually altered to take on a flat blade shape, with the reinforcing fibers (4) being oriented in the direction of the arc and in the longitudinal direction of the blade (2). To further increase the thickness, or optionally the height (h) and/or length (1) of the blade (2), an outside layer (6) of artificial material can be permanently bonded to each side of the blade (2), extending beyond one or more edges of the blade. The shaft (1) preferably consists of said outer torsion box (3), an inner torsion box (8) coaxial therewith and permanent- ly bonded to the outer torsion box (3), and a core (9) of artificial foam material, wherein the artificial materials, from the core outwardly, have increasingly higher mechanical properties.
