ABSTRACT A combined clutch and brake apparatus having a hub, piston and rotor fixed to each other and with the rotor disposed between a clutch disc and brake disc. The brake disc is fixed to an axially moveable cylinder and the clutch disc is fixed to the brake disc. Braking torque is applied to the rotor by springs acting between the hub and the clutch disc. Pressurizing the pressure chamber releases the brake and causes the clutch disc to engage the rotor thereby connecting the driving member to the driven shaft.
