IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO CO-AXIAL MAGNETRONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A co-axial magnetron has a separate resonator in- corporating a multipactor discharge arrangement for modifying the resonant characteristics of the separate resonator. The resonator is coupled symmetrically into the main resonant cavity of the magnetron. The resonator comprises a cavity co-axially surrounding part of the outer wall of the main co-axial cavity at one end thereof, and extending over an end closure thereof, a plurality of coupling probes being provided extending through apertures in the end closure to couple the separate resonator cavity to the main co-axial cavity. The multipactor discharge arrangement comprises an annular electrode extending within the separate resonator cavity and around the outer wall of the main co-axial cavity.
