ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to an alkaline salt promoter system comprising specific mixtures of lower aliphatic mono-substituted alpha amino acids and sterically hindered diamino or triamino compounds and their use in acid gas scrubbing processes. The preferred promoter system comprises a mixture of N-secondary butyl glycine and N-cyclohexyl-1, 3-propanediamine or N-cyclohexyl-1, 4-butanedamine.
