Abstract of the Disclosure An improved process is provided for the coagula- tion and recovery of synthetic polymers from aqueous emulsions wherein there is added to and mixed with the aqueous emulsion of the polymer an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a polymer of a vinyl aromatic monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated dibasic carboxylic hold or anhydride and concurrently or sub- sequently there is added and mixed therewith a coagulating agent to cause coagulation of the synthetic polymer which is then separated and recovered.
