A coast control device for a walkie/rider pallet truck (100) locks the position of a steering arm (116) of the truck (100) to prevent movement by a deadman mechanism (133). The disclosed locking device is a brake: an armature plate (138) mounted to the steering arm (116); and an electromagnet (140) coupled to a steering head (132) that is operated to activate coasting operation. The brake force can be overcome by an operator to manually apply the truck brake or to reposition the steering arm (116) to a new position where it is again locked. For controlling coasting operation, the brake is manually engaged by an actuator (115E) mounted adjacent to or on a grab bar (112) that is to be gripped by an operator riding on the truck (100). With the actuator so located, coasting operation can be conveniently engaged while the operator is walking beside the truck (100).
L'invention concerne un dispositif de contrôle de roulage en roue libre pour chariot de manutention de palettes à conducteur porté ou à pied (100), qui verrouille la position d'un levier de commande de direction (116) du chariot (100) pour supprimer tout mouvement, par le biais d'un frein de sécurité (133). Pour contrôler le roulage en roue libre, on enclenche manuellement le frein par le biais d'un actionneur (115E) adjacent à une barre d'appui (112) ou placé sur cette barre, que l'opérateur du chariot (100) saisit. L'emplacement de l'actionneur permet à l'opérateur d'engager facilement le mode de roulage en roue libre lorsqu'il marche à côté du chariot (100).
