A base cloth for a coated airbag which has a base fabric composed of flat cross-section yarns having a flatness ratio (i.e. a ratio of the major axis to the minor axis of the cross-section of a single yarn) of 1.5 to 8 and, applied thereon, a resin elastomer, characterized in that respective single yarns are arranged in a manner such that a total average horizontality index (H1) represented by the following formula is in the range of 0.75 to 1.0, and the resin elastomer is attached in an amount of 0.1 to 60 g/m2. The base cloth for a coated airbag combines mechanical properties, flame resistance, non air permeability, flexibility, compactness and containability in good balance of them.
La présente invention concerne un tissu de base destiné à un coussin de sécurité gonflable revêtu qui présente un tissu de base composé de fils de section transversale plate possédant un rapport d'aplatissement (c'est-à-dire, un rapport du grand axe par rapport au petit axe de la section transversale d'une fibre unique) compris entre 1,5 et 8. Un élastomère à base de résine est également appliqué sur ledit tissu de base caractérisé en ce que les fibres uniques respectives sont disposées de sorte qu'un indice d'horizontalité moyen total (H1) représenté par la formule suivante est compris dans la plage de 0,75 à 1,0, et l'élastomère à base de résine est fixé dans une quantité comprise entre 0,1 et 60 g/m?2¿. Ledit tissu de base destiné à un coussin de sécurité gonflable revêtu combine des propriétés mécaniques, une étanchéité aux flammes, une imperméabilité à l'air, une flexibilité, une compacité et un pouvoir de confinement, de manière bien équilibrée.
