A pipe insulation system includes a tubular core of fibrous insulation that is coated with a pliable polymer. The coated tubular core has a first longitudinal slit extending completely through the wall of the core and a second longitudinal slit in the inner surface of the tubular core that is opposite the first slit and forms a hinge that permits the tubular core to be opened and closed to place the coated tubular core about a pipe. Preferably, the coating has a water vapor permeance rating of 0.02 perms or less and the system includes a seal for sealing the first slit so that an outer surface layer of the sealed coated tubular core formed by the coating and seal has a water vapor permeance rating of 0.02 perms or less for use on cold pipe systems.
L'invention concerne un système d'isolant pour tuyaux comprenant un coeur tubulaire d'isolant fibreux qui est enduit avec un polymère pliable. Le coeur tubulaire enduit comporte une première fente longitudinale qui s'étend complètement à travers la paroi du coeur et une seconde fente longitudinale dans la surface intérieure du coeur tubulaire qui est à l'opposé de la première fente et forme une penture qui permet au coeur tubulaire d'être ouvert et fermé pour placer le coeur tubulaire enduit sur un tuyau. De préférence, l'enduit possède une perméance à la vapeur d'eau de 0,02 perm ou moins et le système inclut un joint pour sceller la première fente pour qu'une couche à la surface extérieure du coeur tubulaire enduit scellé formée par l'enduit et le joint ait une perméance à la vapeur d'eau de 0,02 perm ou moins en vue de l'utilisation sur les tuyauteries froides.
