ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Polyester films are primed with copolymers of acrylic or methacrylic acid esters, glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate, and acrylonitrile, optionally with an acrylic or methacrylic comonomer having a functional hydrophilic group, e.g. hydroxyethyl methacrylate. When the priming polymer contains less than 20 mole % of acrylonitrile as comonomer it is preferably cross-linked with an agent such as a melamine formaldehyde condensate.
