A prosthetic hip joint includes a ceramic hip head having a bore which defines asurface, wherein the bore surface has a layer of malleable material disposed on at least a portion thereof. The surface of the bore includes surface imperfections in the form of peaks and valleys. The prosthetic hip joint can also include a femoral component having a trunnion with a tapered surface adapted for friction fit insertion into the bore of the hip head. The layer of material, such as pure titanium, distributes a load on the joint reducing localized stress points produced by opposing asperity peaks in the load-bearing surfaces of the bore and trunnion.
Prothèse de hanche ayant une tête en céramique dotée d'un logement qui définit une surface, dans laquelle la surface du logement est recouverte d'une couche de matériau malléable disposée sur au moins une portion de celle-ci. La surface du logement comporte des imperfections de surface ayant la forme de pics et de creux. La prothèse de hanche peut également comporter une composante fémorale ayant un tourillon à surface conique adaptée de manière à pouvoir s'insérer par friction dans le logement de la tête de la hanche. La couche de matériau, tel que du titane pur, répartit la charge sur l'articulation, réduisant les points de pression localisés en opposant les pointes des aspérités dans les surfaces porteuses du logement et du tourillon.
