A coated optical fiber of the invention is constructed by coating an energy beam curable resin onto the outer periphery of a wiredrawn optical fiber and curing the resin by radiating an energy beam to the resin to thereby provide a coating layer on the optical fiber. The peak temperature of the mechanical loss tangent Tan .delta. of the energy beam curable resin prior to curing is 25°C or lower.
La fibre optique enduite de l'invention est fabriquée en déposant une résine sur la périphérie extérieure d'une fibre optique étirée et en faisant durcir cette résine par irradiation, ce qui produit une couche protectrice sur la fibre optique. La température de crête de la perte mécanique de la résine avant son durcissement est de 25 oC ou moins.
