ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An assembly of refractory tubular tiles and runners for bottom pouring molten metal in an ingot mold, the tubular tiles and runners having smooth inner surfaces for guiding said molten metal and having a penetrating heat insulating graphite coating on said inner surfaces for controlling heat transfer from said molten metal to said refractory tubular tiles and runners to control thermal shock and thereby avoid cracking and spalling of the refractory tiles and runners.
