COATED SURFACES CAPABLE OF DECOMPOSING OILS Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to coated surfaces for use in ovens designed to catalytically clean the residues of foods. The present invention is different from the conventional oxidation catalysts in that a "gasification cracking catalyst", which cracks the cooking residues, such as fatty acid or the like, into lower hydrocarbon or the like, irrespective of oxidation, is used. The catalyst is effectively dispersed in an inorganic coat- ing medium and the resulting surface can decompose and evaporate, without any stains, residues such as fatty acids, etc. at temperature of approximately 200 to 300°C, without oxidation and dehydrogenation of the residues into high carbonaceous materials. The catalysts employed are selected from the following (A) and (B) groups: (A) oxides of group 1A or group 2A in the periodic table (B) compounds represented by an equation (MA)X(MB)y(O)z wherein MA is an element of group 1A or group 2A, MB is an element of group 3B or group 4B, O is oxygen, and x, y and z are integers or an oxide of one or more of the following elements Ti, Fe, Ni, Co, Cr and Ag, are disposed in a parent body composed of a heat-resisting binder.
