ABSTRACT "Coating Apparatus" A coating apparatus is provided for applying a striped coating to a forwardly moving substrate web. The apparatus comprises a hollow applicator head having a transversely extending outlet aperture through which coating material can flow from the interior of the head onto the web. A number of partitions partition the head into separate compartments. The applicator head has a wall or base plate which bears against the web and is provided with a plurality of closely spaced forwardly extending flow dividers which are effective to divide the flow of coating material flowing through the aperture into a number of relatively small flow streams. There is further an adjustable coating blade in front of the aperture, whereby the thickness of the coating can be adjusted.
