ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coating apparatus having a valve means disposed to a paint supply line extended from a paint supply source to a coating machine for controlling the flow rate of a paint in accordance with the flow rate of a paint discharged from the coating machine, wherein the valve means comprises a needle valve which is urged to close a flow channel of a paint by a spring, solenoid coils actuatable to attract a movable core secured to the needle valve in the direction of opening the flow channel against the resiliency of the spring and a pulse generator connected to the solenoid coils for generating energizing pulses at a predetermined pulse period in accordance with the flow rate of a paint discharged from the coating machine when electric pulses are inputted to the solenoid coils.
