Coating composition and process for its preparation A description is given of an aqueous coating composition comprising a) a polymer dispersion based on (meth)acrylate homopolymers and/or (meth)acrylate copolymers and prepared by emulsion polymerization in the presence of a protective colloid, b) if desired, pigments and/or fillers, with a pigment volume concentration (PVC) of 0 to 30%, c) if desired, leveling assistants, d) if desired, coalescers, e) if desired, polymeric thickeners, and f) if desired, further, customary additives. The composition is distinguished by an increased open time.
