ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coating composition comprised of a cement, at least one of a clay and a sulphate, an aqueous emulsion polymer, and preferably an organic acid and a wax, which is degradable in a moisture active environment such as a landfill andwhich can be applied to degradable substrates to render the substrates water resistant is disclosed herein.
