ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE Aqueous thermosetting coating compositions are described which are based upon a water-soluble or water- dispersible crosslinkable film-forming polymer, an amino resin crosslinking agent and a water-soluble hydroxy-amido compound, e.g. N,N,N',N'-tetrakis (.beta.-hydroxyethyl) adipamide. The compos- itions are of high solids content and give films having improved properties as compared to those from compositions not containing the hydroxy-amido compound.
