The present invention relates to coating compositions in which the binder contains a) an isocyanurate group-containing polyisocyanate prepared from 1,4-diisocyanatobutane (BDI) and having an isocyanate content of 20 to 30% by weight and a monomeric BDI content of less than 2% by weight and b) a polyol component, in amounts sufficient to provide an equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups of component a) to isocyanate-reactive groups of component b) of 0.8:1 to 3:1. The present invention is also directed to coated substrates prepared from these coating compositions.
