Abstract of the Disclosure The edge of a container blank formed of paperboard, cardboard or the like is coated with a sealant. The coating is accomplished by positioning the surface of a coating element in contact with the lower edge of the blank at an angle such that a trough containing sealant is formed between the edge of the blank and the coating element. The blank and the coating element are moved relative to one another to deposit sealant along the edge of the blank.
