A method of preparing and coating metal cookware having an interior cooking surface (80) and for the application of a lubricative coating is disclosed. The method includes mechanically spraying the interior cooking surface (80) with an aluminum oxide material to produce a roughened surface (80) and applying by thermal spraying a metallic abrasion resistant layer (11) of substantially pure titanium. Titanium oxide and titanium nitride are also formed. Also disclosed is a cooking utensil having a substrate (80) and an intermediate layer (11) deposited on the substrate by thermally spraying the substrate with a mechanically durable material (11), said mechanically durable material being selected from the group consisting of chemically pure titanium, titanium-aluminum, and titanium 6-4.

Méthode de préparation et de revêtement d'un ustensile de cuisine métallique présentant une face interne de cuisson (80) et d'application d'un revêtement lubrifiant. La méthode consiste à diffuser mécaniquement sur la phase interne de cuisson (80) un oxyde d'aluminium qui donne une surface rugueuse (80) puis à appliquer par diffusion à chaud une couche métallique (11) résistante à l'abrasion constituée de titane essentiellement pur, d'oxyde de titane et de nitrure de titane. L'invention porte également sur un ustensile de cuisine comportant un substrat (80) et une couche intermédiaire (11) déposée sur celui-ci par diffusion à chaud sur le substrat d'un matériau à résistance mécanique (11), ledit matériau à résistance mécanique étant choisi dans le groupe constitué par le titane chimiquement pur, le titane-aluminium et le titane 6-4.
