Disclosed is a coating formulation comprising: (A) 5-99.5% by weight of at least one binder polymer component; (B) 0-80% by weight of at least one solvent component; and (C) 0.5-15% by weight of at least one silicon dioxide having a surface modified with an organic component, each based on the coating formulation. The coating formulation has a viscosity both in low shear and high shear states only slightly lower than that of the same formulation without the surface modified silicon dioxide and is particularly useful as architectural paint.
